KTM & Singer Racing - Cape Epic

- Back to overview

On March 19th, the CAPE EPIC, probably the most famous mountain bike stage race in the world, starts in South Africa.

KTM Bike Industries is ready to start into this race, with ambitions for the top spots. With Simon Stiebjahn and Martin Frey from the factory-supported SINGER RACING TEAM, two true marathon specialists will be sent on this big mission. The German duo from the Black Forest already won last year’s Four Islands Stage Race, which is part of the Epic Series as well.

Simon Stiebjahn:

With the experience from the last year’s, I am very confident. Over the last few years Martín & I have shown that we are among the world class riders in stage races, so I don't think it's too presumptuous for us to aim for a podium position. Of course, a lot things can go wrong over eight epic stages, but we are very optimistic.

Martin Frey:

I can only agree with Stiebi. We are confident that we will benefit from our experience. We know that we work well as a team. At the same time, everything has to fit together, and it takes a certain amount of luck to be among the front runners in the end. In any case, we are well prepared.

Markus Blust/ Team Manager Singer Racing:

I have been following the Cape Epic for many years and it is definitely one of the most important races of the year. From media perspective probably even the biggest of the entire MTB scene. This year we are at the starting line for the first time with our team and we are really looking forward to it. My two boys are super prepared, and our approach is to go into the races without pressure. I'm sure that both of them are good enough for a top spot. But on such a long distance, the overall win can quickly be out of reach. If we won’t fight for overall victory anymore, we will go all in for stage wins. Moreover, we are very proud to represent KTM in this unique race.
